About IJEED

Art is meant for communication, entertainment and enlightenment, it is that which can be experienced; it is that which has aesthetic appeal, it is that which makes the soul ecstatic.

And here we ask, what is Art? What is the ecstasy that is placed in architecture, design or painting that can equally enthrall a human mind. Is the outreach of such an emotion even possible through these art forms? Can a painting for that matter be as engaging as a melody or a dance piece?

The answer perhaps lies in the latest initiative of the KAASH foundation, that is in the process of assimilating and embodying myriads of expressions that lie buried in the archives of the human mind.

The International Journal of Emotions, Expressions and Dimensions (IJEED), as it is rightly called, is a worldwide, open, peer-reviewed online journal, curated by the KAASH Foundation. It provides a unique platform to the writers, researchers and students of various areas and fields to showcase their work with wider scope. It facilitates the exchange of thoughts, ideas and feelings amidst people globally to provide a nuanced and finer viewpoint to their work of art.

The human mind is innately cognitive and supremely expressive. The faculties of the mind propel man to be curious, to experiment and be constantly communicative. The high order of communication that the human mind is capable of is beyond the grasp of mortal understanding; the art that addresses the epiphanic moments of emotions becomes historical.

From the hoary past, right up to the present, this ‘cognitive mind’ has been forging simple and complex patterns of expressions and norms that can be collectively called as culture. The crosscurrents of a diverse culture define the dimensions of expression leading to form tangible and intangible heritage. The most personal feelings and emotions stemming from one’s cultural background and genetic make-up lead to the need to ‘reach out’ to others and express.  Through the pathways of origin, belief, institutions, religion, music and art, the many dimensions of culture keep expanding. Not stopping at just poetry or music or dance, art shows the transformative powers of the imagination in the form of architecture, design, painting, weaving, machinery and so on. The list is endless! The aesthetics of expression and the power to shape up the irresolvable contrarieties of experience into something tangible, is what defines us as humans after all!

At KAASH, we are committed to exploring such nuances of culture through the various art forms and understand their implications in building nations and moulding mindsets of a vibrant young generation. This initiative looks into pragmatic, empirical, fact-based, case study or descriptive and analytical models and conceptual frameworks about the ideas of cultural expressions.

As human beings, the notion of ‘development’ and ‘progress’ become pertinent in our evolution process. Albeit the times that push us to face death, disease and depression, nations stay determined to move towards becoming technologically and globally developed superpowers.  What use is a globally developed nation where citizens cannot resonate with their aesthetic and spiritual selves? Thus, the need of the hour is to overcome differences tactfully with fruitful conversations. To find a common ground through empathetic and human approaches is essential.

This journal aims at identifying and understanding this tripod of culture- Emotions, Expressions and Dimensions, which becomes firmly rooted through the beam of hope and faith. While we seek to answer the questions of ‘Who’, ‘Why’, ‘Where’, ‘How’ and ‘Which’, the fundamental quest is always towards identifying relevance in today’s times and seeking value for future use. In this process of exploration, we believe, may lie the answers to many- a question of history, philosophy, anthropology, archaeology, art, architecture, sociology, theology, politics and ethics.
